E-T Energy is engaged in the business of developing, operating, producing and selling recoverable bitumen found in the Athabasca oil sands deposits using the ET-DSP™ in situ method of production.

The ET-DSP™ method process involves passing electrical current from surface power distribution equipment.

Field Test

E-T Energy's Lease

The Proof of Concept test included a total of 13 wells consisting of 9 electrode and 4 extraction wells to a depth of 95 meters (not including sensor wells). See diagram below.

ET-DSP™ Proof of Concept Pilot

Surface facilities consist of an above ground piping system that lead from the well heads to a tank and treatment system capable of processing up to 1,000 bbl/d of bitumen. This simple surface treatment facility is able to produce a marketable bitumen product. All bitumen produced to date has been blended with a diluent, trucked and sold in spot markets.

Bitumen Sales from Proof of Concept Pilot

All bitumen produced to date has been blended with a diluent, trucked and sold in spot markets. The bitumen produced has been sand and emulsion free and has met minimum pipeline specifications. Data obtained from the T1 test area was used to enhance the design for the process applied to the Expanded Field Test as described below.

Expanded Field Test

The ongoing Expanded Field Test is exploring the technical feasibility of varying the well spacing at up to 18 meters. The number of extraction wells to electrode wells will be varied from 2:1 to 4:1 vs. the initial 1:1 ratio. The Expanded Field Test will give E-T Energy additional empirical data to allow optimization of the design for recovering bitumen commercially using ET DSP™.

The diagram below shows both the original area marked as T1 and T2, as well as the expanded areas, shown as XT1, XT2 and XT3.

The Expanded Field Test is expected to run over a one to two-year period, with production commencing within a few months of preheating the formation.

Recent Developments

The drilling of all electrode wells to the conductor setting depth has been completed. Completion drilling of 20 electrode wells and installation of electrodes in the T2 and XT3 patterns has been completed. Heating of both T2 and XT3 patterns commenced in 2008 with production from one of the T2 wells realized from September 19 - December 5 2008.

Observation wells were drilled in the XT3 pattern to monitor temperature increases in the formation, and mini electrode wells were drilled in part of the T2 pattern to demonstrate their ability to resurrect failed electrodes.
